As part of a larger state energy bill, Massachusetts authorized (but did not require) the procurement of an additional 1,600 MW of offshore wind power by 2035. The bill calls for the Department of Energy Resources to first investigate the necessity, benefits, and costs of such additional development. Full bill available here.
